General Information (Organization)
Ted's Golf Group plays golf on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Sign up by noon two days prior to tournament. Important Notes: All members of the ted.manage.golf golf group: 15 May 2026 Please read both the Ted.manage.golf basic signup procedures section and the Procedures to eliminate conflicting pairing requests section below. Ted.manage.golf basic signup procedures: Our group’s web site is ted.manage.golf. We have added you to the roster so you can sign up if you want to be paired with our group. To see who is already signed up for an event, go to ted.manage.golf, select the "Signup" button at the top and on the drop down menu, select "Next Round Signup List". To sign yourself up, select the "Signup" button at the top and on the drop down menu, select "Next Round Signup". Select the round you want to sign up for from the "Next Round" line’s drop down menu and then select your name from the "Player 1" line drop down menu (or start typing your name and it should come up). Don’t sign up players 2-4 unless you know they are playing and you have spoken with them and they have not been asked to play in another group. This eliminates conflicting requests which causes confusion and more work for "Golfers at Work" (GAW) or the "Grumpy Old Men" (GOM). More on avoiding pairing conflicts later. Finally, select "Submit" at the bottom. That should take you back to the Signup page for you to either sign up for another round if you want or to check the "Next Round Signup List" to make sure you actually are signed up for what you want. You can sign up for rounds up to 2 weeks in advance. If you later decide to cancel an event, there is a "Cancellation" button at the top. You can explore the other buttons at the top if interested. Signing up on our group’s web site does absolutely nothing to sign you up with either host group (GAW or GOM). You always have to sign up on the host group’s website to play in the event. Signing up on our group's website just signs you up with us for pairing purposes. I then use the signup list on our website to pair people up, and submit the pairings to the GAW or GOM groups. It’s almost always best to sign up on both the host group’s website and our group’s website as early as possible. As you know, sometimes the golf course limits the number of players allowed and wants to know a few days in advance how many will be playing. This also determines when they close the signup and pairing portion of their website. And that date varies. If you want to play in an event but with some other guys not in our group, just sign up with the host group on their website but not on ours. We will assume you don’t want to be paired with our group for that event. There is no prejudice either way. Procedures to eliminate conflicting pairing requests: We need to eliminate conflicting pairing requests for both Golfers at Work (GAW) and Grumpy Old Men (GOM) golf groups. A conflicting pairing request is one where one person has been requested to be paired with more than one group. I believe the below procedure will be fairly easy and effective. 1. Everyone has to go onto the GAW and GOM web site and sign yourself up for the tournament you want to play as usual. Problem: If some people are paired up on a GAW/GOM web site (the box on their web site sign up page) and also listed on our group’s web site (ted.manage.golf), I have no way of knowing who is already paired up with GAW/GOM and therefore when I send in the email to pair the people up who are signed up on ted.manage.golf, this creates pairing conflicts which creates confusion and more work for GAW/GOM that they don’t want or need. Solution: The main thing to remember is to eliminate conflicting pairing requests, we CANNOT have the same name(s) on both a GAW/GOM web site signup page (other than you own) and on ted.manage.golf web site at the same time for the same event. 2. If you have a 4-some you want to be paired with, there are 2 Ways to do it. A. After and you have coordinated this with them, then you can sign them up on the web site signup page of the GAW/GOM web site. Then go to ted.manage.golf and make sure NONE of the 4 of you are also signed up there. If they are, then cancel them (you can cancel more than just yourself). Also send a text to me (817-675-5801) or email at teddrake@aol.com letting me know who you are pairing with and we will also try to make sure those guys are canceled on our web site. It’s important the same names DO NOT appear on both the GAW/GOM web sites (except your own) and on ted.manage.golf at the same time for the same event. B. DO NOT SIGN ANYONE UP ON THE SIGNUP PAGE OF THE GAW/GOM WEB SITES (except yourself). Instead, sign up on the ted.manage.golf web site and include your pairing request in the comments section of our web site. Also, please send a text to me (817-675-5801) or email at teddrake@aol.com letting me know who you want to be paired with as a backup. We will then pair you up with who you requested and fill out the group with other guys from our group. 3. If you have a 2-some or a 3-some, there are 2 ways to do it depending on whether you want GAW/GOM or ted.manage.golf to fill in your 4-some. A. If you want GAW/GOM to fill out your 4-some. This procedure is quite similar to item 2 above. After and you have coordinated this with them, then you can sign them up on the web site signup page of the GAW/GOM web site. Then go to ted.manage.golf and make sure NONE of the 2-3 of you are also signed up there. If they are, then cancel them (you can cancel more than just yourself). Also send a text to me (817-675-5801) or email teddrake@aol.com letting me know who you are pairing with and we will also try to make sure those guys are canceled on our web site. It’s important the same names DO NOT appear on both the GAW/GOM web sites (except your own) and on ted.manage.golf at the same time for the same event. GAW/GOM will then fill your 4-some as they see fit. B. If you have 1-2 guys you want to be paired with but want your 4-some filled out with guys in ted.manage.golf, DO NOT SIGN ANYONE UP ON THE SIGNUP PAGE OF THE GAW/GOM WEB SITES (except yourself). Instead, sign up on the ted.manage.golf web site and include your pairing request in the comments section of our web site. Also, please send a text to me (817-675-5801) or email teddrake@aol.com letting me know who you want to be paired with as a backup. We will then pair you up with who you requested and fill out the group with other guys from our group. 4. Obviously, if you want to be paired with guys from our group but don’t care who, just sign up on ted.manage.golf web site and we’ll send in the email to GAW/GOM to pair people up as usual. I usually try to sign up groups with similar handicaps unless other requests have been made. 5. The main thing to remember is to eliminate conflicting pairing requests, It’s important the same names DO NOT appear on both the GAW/GOM web sites (except your own) and on ted.manage.golf web site at the same time for the same event. (Yes, I know I said this before.) 6. Finally, this all has to be done not later than (NLY) noon 2 days prior to the tournament. GAW normally closes at 6 pm 2 days prior and it looks like they usually start working the pairings sometime well before that. So for golf Monday, sign up NLT Saturday noon. For golf Wednesday, sign up NLT Monday noon, and for golf Thursday, sign up NLT Tuesday noon. This will give me time to send in the pairing email that afternoon before the closing. 7. GOM closing is later than GAW (currently 1 pm the day before the tournament) but if we keep the signup times the same, it will hopefully eliminate confusion. 8. Any questions? Let me know.
